The ruins of ancient Conwy Castle, glower over Conwy.  Nearby Plas Mawr is an example of intricate and spectacular Tudor architecture, with lavish interior decoration, ornate fireplaces and colorful plasterwork. Not for the faint of heart … a haunted castle to stay in … Gwydir Castle.  This much-haunted castle is best known for a young woman who prowls the North Wing and the paneled corridor between the Hall of Meredith and the Great Chamber. Visitors experience the usual hallmarks: a drop in temperature and a peculiar odor in the vicinity. Then there is Sir John Wynn who tends to skulk on the spiral staircase leading from the Solar Hall to the Great Chamber; his portrait hangs in the Lower Hall, so guests have an easy time identifying the wraith. www.gwydir-castle.co.uk
