On Epic Mid-December-Mid-April Gourmet Ski Safaris
DOLOMITES, Italy, Oct. 9, 2012 – Italy’s active leader in guided and self-guided mountain travel, Dolomite Mountains Ltd.
http://dolomitemountains.com/en/home.htm, announces a five-night/six-day Dolomites Gourmet Ski Safari & Tour that posits alpine skiers in snug mountain huts with gourmet presentations prepared by Michelin-star chefs while traversing over four days, 12 distinct mountain ski areas representing 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) of prepared runs.
The rate is from €2860 per person with a minimum of six in a group on customized departures between mid-December and mid-April.
Few places in the world offer the ski terrain of the Dolomites and the ability to experience a dozen ski resorts in under one week. Throughout the vacation skiers explore the traditions, culture, history and cuisine of the Ladin valleys as they move from luxury hotel to one rifugio (mountain hut) to the next, with meals paired with outstanding wine.
“Our Gourmet Ski Safari combines my favorite aspects of the Dolomites: breathtaking views of majestic snow-capped mountains, the refined cuisine of northern Italy, excellent wines, unique accommodations, all connected by the world-class ski slopes of the southern Alps,” said Agustina Lagos Marmol, the company’s founder.

Guests meet a professional guide on day one in Alta Badia where they obtain a week-long Dolomiti Superskipass and overnight at a luxury hotel after a welcome dinner. Day two focuses on the Sellaronda Ski Tour, one of the most spectacular ski tours in the world, circumnavigating the Sella Massif.
Lunch samples “A Taste for Skiing in Alta Badia,” a joint effort between the Dolomitici (Alta Badia Michelin-starred chefs), fellow starred chefs from Europe and 10 rifugi. Each chef is teamed up with a specific rifugio, creating recipes which use the best of typical South Tyrol’s produce. The lunch tours from hut to hut for appetizers, primo, secondo and dessert. Outstanding wines are also served.
After overnighting in Alta Badia, guests on day three ski from Marmolada (Queen of the Dolomites) Glacier to Passo San Pellegrino. Marmolada is the highest peak of all the Dolomites, reaching a height of 3,342 meters (10,965'), and provides some of the most spectacular skiing experiences on earth. At day’s end a snowmobile transports guests to a rifugio for the night replete with dishes typical of the Trentino region.
Day four encompasses Passo San Pellegrino and Civetta ski resorts and spectacular views. On day five guests ski down to the Cinque Torri (Five Towers) area to arrive in Cortina d’Ampezzo and a final evening at the Michelin star-rated Ristorante Tivoli before retiring in a luxury hotel.
Italy’s Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
