The Holiday season has arrived, and you are cordially invited to the Fezziwig family’s annual Christmas party, held in the Victorian mansion of Mount Hope Estate. Enjoy the Christmas cheer by singing along with the Fezziwig children and catching a glimpse of Father Christmas. This holiday season, set aside the worries and hustle and bustle of today and gather around the yuletide fire of yesterday with friends and family at Mount Hope Estate & Winery’s 29th annual production of “A Dickens of a Christmas.” Opening Thursday, November 29 and continuing through Sunday, December 23, A Dickens of a Christmas is sure to offer entertainment for the entire family in a one-of-a-kind Victorian setting.
Limited seating is available for both lunch and dinner buffets. The fun starts in the Swashbuckler Pub with beloved Dickens characters on hand to entertain guests while they dine. Dining options include toasted sandwiches, fresh salads, carved meats, dessert and more! Performance-only tickets are also available for each Dickens’ performance.
The first floor of the Victorian mansion is transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with some of Charles’ Dickens most famous characters filling the air with music and laughter. In “A Dickens of a Christmas,” audience members are invited to join in the holiday transformations and rejoice in the spirit of the season through the telling of Charles Dickens’ immortal classics. “A Dickens of a Christmas” includes three uniquely entertaining shows.
In Belle’s Dating Game, Mrs. Fezziwig searches for a potential husband for her beautiful, heartbroken, daughter, Belle, and will do whatever it takes, working feverishly, to find a suitable match. Comedy, music, and audience interaction fill this show with Christmas joy.
A Different Christmas Carol is a unique twist on the Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol.” Watch as Charles Dickens and Mr. Fezziwig portray multiple characters and bring this literary classic to life, through comedy and audience participation.
The Gift of the Magi tells a story of selfless acts of love, told by Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit. This loving story, told by two of Charles Dickens’ most charming characters, will leave the audience with a heartfelt smile.
A Dickens of a Christmas opens Thursday, November 29 and runs thru Sunday, December 23. Show times are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $18.95 weekends and $16.95 midweek. Special tickets are available for lunch or dinner and a show, where patrons can enjoy a buffet lunch/dinner in the Swashbuckler BrewPub & Eaterie before the performances. The Swashbuckler BrewPub Wharf area will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am – 8pm for a la carte dining. All hours and menus are subject to change.
