| CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK'S DAY IN VANCOUVER WITH CELTICFEST |

For the fifth year, Vancouver's CelticFest will stretch traditional St. Patrick's Day festivities into a celebration of all things Celtic. From March 12 to 16, the sounds of vigorous fiddles, skirling bagpipes, boisterous bodhrans, dancing feet and voices will resound throughout downtown Vancouver, bringing together visitors and locals for more than 50 events scheduled at dozens of popular venues and three outdoor stages in downtown Vancouver.
Among the hundreds of artists performing at this year's festival, headlining acts include Scotland's Battlefield Band, Tony McManus, Steafan Hannigan, Wendy MacIsaac & Patrick Gillis, Spirit of the West, plus the international supergroup Celtic Fiddle Festival. Along with musical performances, highlights include the Lucky Charms Poker Tournament, Battle of the Bards - a poetry face-off, the Whisky Kiss scotch tasting event and a brewmaster's dinner, as well as Celtic music and dance workshops. The most popular free event of the festival is the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, which will be held on Sunday March 16 from 11am, starting at the corner of Howe and Davie Streets in downtown Vancouver.

Get your feathers, beads, masks and costumes together! Davie Village bars have joined forces to present the third annual Mardi Gras festival in Vancouver's gay community from Thursday, February 21 to Saturday, February 23. More than just a reason to come out and play (it's like Pride in winter), the event also raises funds for the LGTB Centre in Vancouver. Celebrity chef and Food Network host Giada De Laurentiis recently visited Vancouver to produce an episode for the second season of her show Giada's Weekend Getaways. Among her stops in the city:
- Capilano Suspension Bridge: Vancouver's oldest tourist attraction, Capilano Suspension Bridge stretches 137m (450 ft.) across and sways 70m (230 ft.) above the Capilano River. The park also includes the Treetops Adventure: seven suspension bridges through the evergreens taking you up to 30m (100 ft.) above the forest floor.

Vancouver continues to be a hot spot of filming activity. As the third-largest centre for film and TV production in North America, over 200 motion pictures were shot in BC in 2006, generating over $1 billion in production spending.
