Let Your Opinion Count: Vote for “The Best of Helsinki”
Select “Oscars” and Earn Prizes

New York, NY February 6, 2008 --   To keep what matters to visitors in site the Helsinki Tourism and Convention Bureau goes right to the source. Travelers who have been to Helsinki and those who are curious about doing so are invited to cast ballots for their favorite travel destinations and services as part of an internet voting campaign “The Best of Helsinki”. Aside from making one’s opinion count to city administrators each voter is eligible to win prizes awarded on a monthly basis.

The Best of Helsinki Awards program, now in its third year, highlights some of the city’s preferred attractions, such as the Helsinki Design District  www.designdistrict.fi, which won awards last year.  Launched in January, the 2008 program offers travelers the chance to cast their ballots on the website www.bestofhelsinki.fi.  Entries will be taken through the end of October. Award winners will be announced at a special invitational gala in November and will receive one of Helsinki’s travel “Oscars”.
The Best of Helsinki Awards highlight the city’s best travel experts in five public competition categories: Best City Break Highlight, Best Winter Experience, Best Nordic Oddity, Best Family Resort & Fun, and Best Meeting Experience.

This year’s Best Nordic Oddity nominees include the “Cosy Like-a-Local Evening” that features dinner at the home of a Finnish family, www.cosyfinland.com. Additionally, there are two categories for travel industry professionals Favorite Travel Professional 2007 and Best Incentive Experience. There are five short listed nominees – chosen for quality criteria, including the significance, capacity and customer-friendliness -- for each category and a blank for write ins.
