WAIKIKI, HONOLULU, HAWAII — From hand-drawn fabric tote bags and brilliantly colored Aussie-inspired bikinis designed on the Golf Coast of Australia to one-of-a-kind Panama straw hats and funky beach and resort wear, the four newest merchants at Waikiki Beach Walk® are sure to cause a buzz among locals and visitors this summer.

The new additions to Waikiki’s thriving retail and entertainment complex, include three recently opened shops – 2Chillies (swimwear), MegunaKei (textile art) and Truffaux (hatmaker) – with Jams World (contemporary lifestyle wear) set to open in early June.

While these newcomers appeal to a broad customer base, they will truly resonate with those who appreciate hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind items, according to Conchita Malaqui, general manager of Waikiki Beach Walk. “As our visitor numbers grow, we expect these new specialty shops to really impact our island’s long-term economic recovery,” said Malaqui.

The lineup of new shops at Waikiki Beach Walk includes:

2Chillies (226 Lewers Street, Suite 142; 808-922-9221; www.2chillies.com.au)

Famous for its styling, fit, and exclusivity, 2Chillies cuts only 300 articles per size per print before retiring the fabric. Its new shop at Waikiki Beach Walk marks the first location outside of the Gold Coast of Australia

MegunaKei (226 Lewers Street, Suite 212; 808-922-1200; www.megunakei.com)

Founded by two masters of textile design, all MegunaKei creations are hand-drawn and inspired by the extensive textile art culture in Asia, Europe and America.
