Llama Expeditions to Host
Spanish Language Learning Adventure
November 2013 in Peru
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 13, 2013 – Andean trekking specialist Llama Expeditions
http://www.llamaexpeditions.com/ will host a 9-day Spanish immersion program in Peru Nov. 9-17, 2013, that combines the signature elements of a Llama Expeditions adventure with the services of Carlos Bazan who runs one of the top-rated Spanish-language schools (
Enjoy Spanish) in San Francisco.
The trip that begins and ends in Lima integrates a traveler’s natural curiosity at being in an exotic world with the baton of a skilled linguist who encourages guests to encounter each other and local people through communication only in Spanish.
“Carlos believes that a language is best learned when the whole self is engaged, and what better way than through cultural immersion,” says Diane Valenti, founder/owner of
Llama Expeditions.
Valenti’s
Spanish Learning Vacation includes tours of historic Lima including a culinary exploration to learn how to make ceviche, Pachacamac (a religious center of indigenous peoples), colonial Cusco and nearby Inca ruins, a traditional weaving community in the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu; Ollantaytambo (a living Inca city) and the salt pans of Maras. An on-line Spanish language quiz can help a trip candidate determine his/her suitability skill-wise for the trip, added Valenti, noting that someone with intermediate skills will feel right at home.
The program is designed for six to 10 people. The per person double rate is $3,977; a single room supplement is $600. Accommodations have been selected for cultural relevance and comfort. The rate includes accommodation, airport and hotel transfers, bilingual English/Spanish guides, Spanish instructor, entrance fees for scheduled tours and archeological sites, daily breakfasts, six lunches and four dinners, transportation by private car, trains and buses as the itinerary dictates.
Guests are encouraged to donate gifts of food, school supplies and clothing that can make a difference in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. Enroute are opportunities to be introduced to charities that Llama Expeditions supports.
About Llama Expeditions
Entrepreneur and outdoorswoman Diane Valenti hatched the idea for her company in 2008 over a home-cooked chicken dinner at close to 14,000 feet in the Peruvian Andes. She has been able to apply her over 20 years as a business consultant working with clients such as Genentech, Nike, and Starbucks Coffee Company to her enterprise that goes beyond just ordinary tourism.
Llama Expeditions tours offer full cultural immersion giving guests the opportunity to see how Peruvians live—to talk with them about their dreams and accomplishments and to learn about the challenges they face. Interactions with nonprofit and grassroots organizations are also woven into the itinerary when possible giving participants the chance to experience the difference gifts of healthy food, school supplies, clothing, or sunglasses can make in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.
