DINING AND DASHING ENCOURAGED WITH TOURISM RICHMOND'S CULINARY RACE FOR $1000
Richmond, BC, Canada (June 24, 2013) - Tourism Richmond has launched another delicious foodie adventure with Dash and Dine - a competitive race inviting enthusiastic, food loving teams of two to eat, experience and tweet their way through Richmond’s two acclaimed Asian Night Markets during an all-expenses paid weekend in Richmond, British Columbia from July 19 to 21, 2013. Competing teams will have a maximum of up to five hours on July 20, 2013, starting at 7 p.m., to earn as many points as possible, by successfully completing various challenges in both of Richmond’s Night Markets, for a chance to win one of two $1000 cash prizes.
Competing teams will receive transportation to Richmond, one hotel room per team for a three-night stay from July 19 to 21, 2013, CDN $50 cash towards cellular data plans, CDN $100 per team member for food expenses as well as all food, transportation (transit passes) and activities during the night market event on July 20.
The challenges (most of them involving eating delicious and unique food from over 140 food vendors) will allow the teams to experience the world famous night markets to their fullest - the more that is tasted, the more points earned. The two teams (one local team, and one visitor team) that earn the most points, proven through tweets throughout the race, will win $1000 cash.
Every weekend throughout the summer, Richmond offers not one but two vibrant, exciting outdoor markets: The Richmond Night Market and the International Summer Night Market. Together they feature over 140 street food carts which prepare fresh delicacies such as Hong Kong-style bubble waffles, hurricane potatoes, steamed dumplings, BBQ squid grilled lobster motoyaki, spicy lamb kebabs, and famous dragon’s beard candy. The markets also feature hundreds of retail stands selling quirky trinkets and plenty of entertainment for all ages.
