Installation Artist Kirsten Hassenfeld and Renowned Photographer Pierre Mardaga Offer the Gift of Art for an Unforgettable Holiday

December 23, 2013, Maldives:  The holiday season is filled with artistic creations atHuvafen Fushi, Maldives. Food meets modern art at Huvafen Fushi's wine cellar, Vinum, this Christmas season. Dine under the surreal beauty of suspended paper chandeliers and floating art created by renowned New York based installation artist Kirsten Hassenfeld while she was in-resident at the resort in December. Make the holiday memories last a lifetime and take home a complimentary family portrait by celebrated, award-winning Sydney photographer Pierre Mardaga.

Art Installation & Dinner

With work funded by the New York Foundation of Arts, acclaimed exhibitions across the USA, Hong Kong and in Italy, and an Individual Artist Grant from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Kirsten Hassenfeld was in-residence at Huvafen Fushi from December 17 – 22, 2013. Her customized artwork is showcased throughout Vinum from December 21, 2013 – February 12, 2014.

Inspired by the magic of the holidays and Vinum’s contemporary style, Kirsten suspended her aesthetically intricate paper pieces from the sky above for a special dinner on December 21st with a unique menu created by resident Executive Chef Daniel Johnson. Guests had the opportunity to meet with the artist for a wine tasting, watch her ethereal creations transform Vinum into a festival of light, and interact with Kirsten while she was in-residence at Huvafen Fushi.

Award Winning Portraits

Capturing the perfect moment in time is the creative lens of renowned Australian photographer Pierre Mardaga between December 26, 2013 – January 2, 2014. The holidays are about family and the award-winning artist will present guests with a beautiful family portrait, set against the backdrop of this photogenic island. Compliments of Huvafen Fushi, this is the perfect memento to take home.

With over 20 years’ experience in people photography and capturing the essence of relationships through film, Pierre will shoot the complimentary guest portraits in the morning, with an opportunity for customized sessions in the afternoon, including hair and make-up.
