Palo Alto, California - Joe Pantoliano, award-winning actor, best-selling author, and mental health activist, will be the keynote speaker at the 11th Annual Circle of Support Breakfast benefiting Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley. Pantoliano will share his personal experience with mental health issues and insights from his campaign to reduce the stigma around brain related disorders. The event will take place on May 8, 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto, 4290 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA. Event proceeds will benefit the work of Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley (FCS Silicon Valley), a nonprofit organization that has been improving the lives of children, teens, and adults in the community through emotional and mental health services since 1948. Joe Pantoliano is best known from work in television and film, including roles in The Sopranos, The Matrix, The Goonies, Risky Business, Memento, and The Fugitive. Free Family Fun at Marine Science Institute at Earth Day on the Bay, Redwood City, California
Redwood City, California - The Marine Science Institute (MSI) is honoring Planet Earth with Earth Day on the Bay on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 10 am - 5 pm. at 500 Discovery Pkwy, Redwood City, CA. The all-day event (admission is free) is meant to provide fun, safe, and special memories for the whole family. MSI provides hands-on adventures on the Bay where students can touch a shark, study plankton, and learn to care for the natural environment. Climb aboard the floating classroom for a two-hour exploration of the San Francisco Bay on the 90' research vessel Robert G. Brownlee ($40 for adults and $20 for children (5-12). After an introduction to this magical estuary, you can help set a net to sample what fish are swimming through the waters below. Miami Beach, Florida - The 20th Annual South Florida Boat Show returns to the Miami Beach Convention Center (1901 Convention Center Drive) May 30-June1, 2014. The show features hundreds of power boats up to 40' including center consoles, walk-arounds, cruisers, personal water craft and accessories. Insurance and financing are on site and trades accepted. Show hours are Friday 12pm-8pm, Saturday 11am-8pm and Sunday 11am-6pm. Admission is $7.00 and kids are free.
