Libertyville, IL, June 30, 2014—Enjoy a trip to Italy without the expensive price tag. TourCrafters is offering an 8-day/7-night off-season package to Rome and Florence for the amazing price of $1,259—and that includes round-trip air fare from New York-JFK to Rome and Florence to JFK (add-on fares are available from other U.S. cities).
In addition to air fare, the package price covers four nights accommodation in the 3-star Rome Garden Hotel, three nights in the 3-star Hotel Meridiana in Florence, a SMART class train ticket from Rome to Florence, and daily buffet breakfast in both cities. The price does not include airport taxes of $109, city taxes (which must be paid in euros directly to the hotel), or the weekend supplement. TourCrafters offers daily departures from November 1 to December 28, but the package must be booked and paid in full by August 28. (Note that the fuel surcharge is included but is subject to change.)
Off-season is the time to travel to Italy, not only because prices are lower, but because the weather is perfect for sightseeing, and Rome is the city for an enthusiastic sightseer. Visit the Coliseum and Roman Forum for a picture of ancient Rome, the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona to view the best of Baroque art, then window shop the smart boutiques on Via Condotti and finally relax in a sidewalk café to see modern Rome saunter by. TourCrafters can arrange an optional tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums (Sistine Chapel), or an optional excursion to Naples and Pompeii..
In Florence, the city of Renaissance art, you’ll want to visit the multi-colored cathedral with its famous dome, the baptistry with its celebrated doors and Giotto’s bell tower, not to mention the Uffizi Gallery and Michelangelo’s David in the Academy of Fine Arts. Check out the shops on Via Tornabuoni for high fashion, La Rinascente and San Lorenzo Market for more affordable trappings and the beautiful Ponte Vecchio for gold jewelry.
The Rome Garden Hotel is an Art Nouveau villa in a posh residential neighborhood with lots of restaurants. The Hotel Meridiana is a modern hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and a helpful staff.
This tour is available over Thanksgiving for $1,339. TourCrafters also has a 7-day/6-night Independent Rome package for only $1,193. All prices are per person double occupancy and are subject to availability.
