UV Splash Color Dash Run/Walk Lights up Tucson, September 12th
Participate in the UV Splash Color Dash on September 12, at Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way, Tucson, AZ. This fun, family-friendly event is going to be a big difference maker - it's Tucson’s Brightest 5k run/walk. The UV Splash Color Dash is a fun-filled experience for walkers, runners, and people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. The dash is not timed - it's more about sharing memories, laughing, and getting colored like a glow-in-the-dark sticker than competing. As participants run, walk the course, the Dasher-Splasher volunteers will splash them with special non-toxic, non-irritating, UV water. Results are a white t-shirted community of do-gooders, turned into a rainbow of glowing faces. A portion of the proceeds from the UV Splash will go to Friends 4 the Future. Funds raised will be used to expand and continue development of the H.E.A.R.T.T. program which targets the education of children and adolescents in healthy eating habits, hearty physical activities, and financial literacy. Pianist Andrew Staupe Opens Arkansas Symphony Orchestra's Season in Maumelle, AR With Rachmaninoff Concerto
The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (ASO), Philip Mann, Music Director and Conductor, opens the 2014-2015 Stella Boyle Smith Masterworks Series with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring Andrew Staupe, piano. The program also features Promenade Overture, composed by ASO Composer of the Year John Corigliano, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2. The concerts take place at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center, 100 Victory Lane, Maumelle AR, Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $19, $35, $49, and $58; active duty military and student tickets are $10 are can be purchased online at www.ArkansasSymphony.org; at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center box office beginning 90 minutes prior to a concert; or by phone at 501-666-1761, ext. 100. Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Presents Landers FIAT River Rhapsodies: Death and the Maiden with Bridge, Brahms at Clinton Center, Little Rock, AR
The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (ASO), Philip Mann, Music Director and Conductor, presents the opening concert of the 2014-2015 Landers FIAT River Rhapsodies Chamber Music Series: Death and the Maiden, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 7:00 PM. ASO’s Quapaw and Rockefeller Quartets, along with David Renfro, horn, Geoffrey Robson, violin, and May Tsao-Lim, piano, present music from Bridge, Brahms, and Schubert in the beautiful Grand Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, AR. 3rd Annual Los Angeles Fear and Fantasy Film Festival Runs September 5th-7th, Burbank, CA
The 3rd Annual Los Angeles Fear and Fantasy Film Festival will be held on Sept. 5th to 7th at the Victory Theater (3326 W Victory Blvd.) in Burbank, California. The festival celebrates upcoming feature and short films in the genre of horror, science fiction, and fantasy, for both adults and children. This boutique festival attracts working professionals and upcoming producers and directors. The festival was created by director Logan Thomas and Aric Cushing. The festival selects only the finest films from around the world competing for Best Feature, Best Short, as well as a screenplay contest, where winners will be announced for the five best internationally un-produced screenplays. The Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Veronica Cartwright (Alien, Witches of Eastwick) and Aric Cushing (The Yellow Wallpaper). The Festival will celebrate Harry Dean Stanton (the Achievement Award winner for the 2014 festival) for his contribution to genre films in over a half century of film and television work.
