Wake up with a relaxing session of sunrise yoga in the oleander garden at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas.

Tour four floors of antiques and collectibles at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Mass.  Self-guided tours of the inns impressive collection begin on the main floor.

The concierge at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Va., is happy to conduct guided tours of the hotel, highlighting notable anecdotes such as the live alligators that used to swim in the lobby fountain or the grand staircase that is believed to have been the model for the version in Gone with the Wind.

Indulge in a flight of fancy at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.  Take a one hour lesson with a falconer that highlights the background of various species of hawks and falcons, followed by a demonstration.

One of the most cherished traditions at Le Pavillon in New Orleans is the late-night peanut butter and jelly break.  Every evening starting at 10 o'clock, the hotel invites guests to congregate in the lobby and take time to enjoy a little taste of home. For years, homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, ice cold milk and hot chocolate have provided the perfect pre-bedtime snack.  

Historic Hotels of America is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  Historic Hotels has identified more than 200 hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance.  To be selected for this program, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized as having historic significance.
