Greetings from Lancaster County!
|
Find your inspiration at April’s Art Lovers’ B&B Getaway in Lancaster
With so many natural wonders to explore here in Lancaster County, it’s easy sometimes to overlook the host of hand-made treasures regularly produced by our local artisans and craftsmen. To highlight this growing arts scene, in combination with the second largest and most diverse B&B community in the East, we’ve dedicated April to our first annual Art Lovers’ B&B Getaway – a month-long celebration of Lancaster art and hospitality.
We know you (and your audience) will enjoy this cozy and creative combo, which allows you to experience unique art in the warm, inviting atmosphere of a B&B. More than 20 charming bed and breakfasts will display the work of a local artist in their common rooms for overnight guests to enjoy and buy. The public will also be able to explore these exhibits at Open House Sundays throughout the month. So come and discover the art and B&B lover in you! |

Your trip could include:
Artisans and Galleries – We pack a wide variety of artistic endeavors into just one county, from paintings to photography, pottery to sculptures, wall hangings to beadwork, and so much more. Come chat with local artists dotted across our countryside and in our towns and villages, as well as those who’ve opened a growing number of funky galleries in downtown Lancaster city.
Creative Events – April is full of lively events and performances that show off our artistic side, including the special exhibits and activities featured during the annual Spring Art Walk in downtown Lancaster city (April 18-20), an exhibition on Where the Wild Things Are and other works by Maurice Sendak at the Lancaster Museum of Art (April 5 – May 18), and the cornucopia of finds hidden among the 5,000 dealers coming to sell their wares at the Antiques Extravaganza in downtown Adamstown (April 23-27).
Historic Towns and Villages – Visit some of the country’s oldest towns and villages, where the B&Bs participating in the Getaway make their home, and which provide inspiration for many of our local artists through the sights and sounds found right outside their own front doors.
Take in a Show – Our creativity extends to the stage as well, with a vibrant theatre community that ranges from local productions to world-premiere musicals to living history. If it’s a live performance you want, you’ll never go wanting for one here.
