Southern Innkeepers Association Celebrates 100 Years Of Southern Hospitality and Tradition

White Sulphur Springs, WV (February 27, 2008) -The oldest and most prestigious lodging organization in the United States, The Southern Innkeepers Association, is approaching a major milestone in 2008. The association will celebrate their 100-year anniversary with an exclusive Diamond Jubilee conference for members, industry leaders, and those who have contributed to the association’s success.  The event will be hosted by the elite Greenbrier in West Virginia this June. As the location of the first Southern Innkeepers Association meeting in 1908, the staff at the Greenbrier hotel is honored to host this celebration of success again 100 years later.

 

During the Southern Innkeepers Association’s 100 years, they have promoted and maintained interaction among management professionals from the finest resorts in the Southern states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, the District of Columbia, Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana. Membership is limited to 125 and includes managers of some of the industry’s most recognized and respected hotels such as The Biltmore Hotel, The Greenbrier, The Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort, the Carolina Inn, the Grove Park Inn and The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.  Membership is by invitation.  The Southern Innkeepers Association is rich in history and tradition.

The 100th Jubilee is expected to draw members from across the country for this historic event.  Presentations will be given by world-renowned industry professionals including Thierry G. Roch, Executive Director of Historic Hotels of America; Marlene Colucci, Executive  Vice President for Public Policy at AH&LA, and Joe McInerny, AH&LA Executive Director;  Attorney Arch Stokes; and, Greenbrier Historian Bob Conte highlight a weekend of activities.
