New Web Site Offers Insider Tips to Local Honey Holes

ADIRONDACK PARK, March 21, 2008 - Whether it be the renowned trout waters of the East Branch Ausable River, the big water bass territory on Lake George and Champlain or the brook trout pools on the thousands of ponds and streams scattered about the region, it's obvious New York's Adirondack Mountains have some of the best fishing on the planet. But if you haven't fished here, finding exactly where the fish are biting can be a bit of a challenge. And with the opening day of trout season right around the corner, there's little time to waste. Still, that's no reason to get skunked!

The Adirondack Regional Tourism Council has teamed up with dozens of local anglers to showcase some of the best fishing spots in the more than 6-million-acre Adirondack Park. Launched March 20 as part of a new feature on www.fishadk.com, local anglers have already posted more than 100 images of monster trout, bass, walleye, gar and more on the site. But what's more exciting for anglers trying to get acquainted with the area is that these anglers have also provided map coordinates of where they caught their trophies. This type of insider knowledge from local anglers is priceless when it comes to locating fish.

ARTC launched the new feature exclusively for anglers looking to hook a stringer full of Adirondack lunkers. In addition to showcasing an extensive gallery of fish species - all caught in Adirondack lakes, rivers and streams - www.fishadk.com is an ideal place for anglers to begin planning their trip to the Adirondacks. While at www.fishadk.com anglers can also order ARTC's Adirondack Fishing Guide and have it mailed directly to their homes free of charge. The guide outlines access points to the thousands of lakes, rivers and streams scattered about the more than 6-million-acre Adirondack Park. The guide also targets what fish species can be found in each waterway, provides lure and bait tips, as well as directions to local tackle shops, among other things.

The site will even direct you to ARTC's Adirondack trip planner, which will find proper lodging, fishing guides, restaurants and more as you gear up for the trip. After you're home from your Adirondack fishing trip with a freezer full of fish and a mind chock full of wonderful memories, be sure to check back in at www.fishadk.com and post an image of your catch, as well as map coordinates so others can take part in the splendor of an Adirondack fishing adventure.
