The hamlet of Banff, set against the powerful landscape of the Canadian Rockies in Banff National Park, is proud to welcome for the first time ever the Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival from May 30-31, 2008. Staged at the Grand Tasting Hall at The Fairmont Banff Springs www.fairmont.com/banffsprings/, this festival brings together beginners, intermediates and connoisseurs alike to nibble on fresh, globally inspired gourmet cuisine prepared by local award-winning chefs. www.rockymountainwine.com.
The local community is excited to showcase its own restaurants and bars, and several auxiliary events are set to take place as well. Ticketing and tasting info as follows:
· Tasting starts Saturday at 2pm and ends at 5pm. Evening event starts at 7pm.
· Tickets at the door: $25, but are limited

Festival goers can also purchase sampling coupons to sip unique wines, rare ports, fine scotch, imported beer and other premium spirits. In addition to delectable food and wine, Banff offers an array of accommodations including hotels, B&Bs, and self-catering chalets along with activities such as spas, live music, and nightlife. Or, for a laid-back spring stroll to help burn the calories, attendees can visit a nearby walking trail at the base of the Rockies, alongside the beautiful Bow River.
