Voyage, Ideal for the Bird Watching Enthusiast
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ 4-star expedition ship the MS BREMEN makes its’ Newfoundland premiere voyage with nine ports from June 3-14, 2008.
North Americans need not travel far this summer to see breathtaking landscape and natural beauty along Canada’s “Wild East.” Discounted by almost 30%, this Canadian itinerary starts at only $3,800 per person/based on double occupancy for an outside cabin. The voyage will begin and end in Halifax/Nova Scotia. Airfare is not included in the cruise price.
After departing Nova Scotia, the MS BREMEN will pass through the Cabot Strait enroute to the homeland of the Newfies, Newfoundland. Guests will first set foot on Norris Point, offering a great panorama of the ancient rocks of the Tablelands. There will also be an opportunity to hike along the Bakers Brook Falls Path, or follow the Viking trail via foot or kayak into Gros Morne National Park. Viking fans will also be able to visit L’Anse aux Meadows, one of the most unusual historical sites of North America, dating back from the year 1000 AD. The next day will be devoted to whale and bird watching in Twillingate. Continuing on, the next stop is St. John, protected by cliffs as high as 490 ft. Guest will enjoy the grand view from the city’s symbol, Signal Hill, at the entrance of the harbor. A hike along the East Coast will provide a spectacular opportunity for more bird and whale watching. There will be the opportunity to view the gold-headed gannets, black-legged kittiwakes and razorbills brood in Cape St Mary. Also, along the route will be the opportunity to view the Sea Lions in the waters of St. Pierre. The last stop will be a visit to Louisbourg on Cape Brenton Island, where an entire village from the 18th century has been rebuilt in its original form. The scenic tour will take guests through the harsh reality of the miners of Glace Bay. The cruise will wrap up through the scenic path of the Canso Canal.
BREMEN rates include full board, all tips on board, minibar, lectures by experienced experts, all landing and tours on the ship’s zodiacs and free rentals of waterproof parkas and boots during the trip. Excursions not on the zodiacs are an additional cost. The fuel surcharge is included. Air to/from the ship is not included.
