(Lancaster, Pa.) Throughout April, let your creativity “spring” forth with the first annual Art Lovers’ B&B Getaway and Open Houses in Lancaster County, as we highlight and celebrate two vibrant local communities that are integral to the daily life of the area.
During the month, more than 20 of the county’s charming bed and breakfasts will display the work of a local artist in their common rooms for overnight guests to enjoy and buy.
Day-trippers and other members of the public are also invited to explore these exhibits during Open House Sundays on April 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 1-5 p.m. There is no entry fee, and all work exhibited will be available for sale. Each B&B is assigned to one of four regional trails, or art lovers can just follow their noses and eyes to any open house they wish. Free trail guides are available online at www.PaDutchCountry.com/TrailGuides
These month-long exhibits will feature the work of several Master Artisans among an incredibly diverse range of artistic creations, from Pennsylvania German Fraktur lettering, paintings and fiber art to jewelry and photography.
“An event that marries Lancaster’s arts and B&B communities is such a natural," says Steve Shane, owner of Apple Bin Inn, a participating B&B. He adds, "The arts that will be exhibited are as diverse as the B&Bs that will be hosting them. We’re thrilled with the participation level in this first year of the event."
To uncover the art and B&B lover in you, take a moment to look over the complete list of all participating B&Bs and their artists.
