Tips & Bits Going Green on Safari Natural Habitat Adventures is rolling out the planet’s first hybrid safari vehicle (www.nathab.com/ hybrid-safari-vehicle). The company spent more than a year researching and building the green machine, a four-wheel-drive hybrid Toyota Highlander retrofitted for optimal wildlife viewing. It also features a beefier suspension, a roof with sliding canvas top and specialized flip-up photography windows. The smarter safari vehicle is projected to get 25 mpg on safari – more than double the mileage of a typical same-size safari vehicle – all while delivering creature comforts to four guests in individual bucket seats. The new Hybrid Safari One will debut on Natural Habitat Adventures’ “Canyons & Beyond” expedition in May. A member of Adventure Collection and exclusive Conservation Travel Provider to World Wildlife Fund, Natural Habitat Adventures recently was called “a pioneer in sustainable travel” by National Geographic Adventure magazine and was the first 100-percent carbon-neutral travel provider.
