The Westin Boston Waterfront Helps Fuel Summer Travel

05-03-2008

BOSTON (May 2, 2008) – Last year was a record year for hybrid car sales within the United States. 75,226 vehicles were sold in the year’s first three months alone*. This year, through March, hybrid car sales are up from last year more than 10%.

In light of these statistics, The Westin Boston Waterfront rewards environmentally savvy travelers with a unique amenity: Several parking spaces in the Hotel’s self-park garage will be painted “green.” These spaces, which are some of the premium spots in the garage -- directly next to the elevators -- will be visible to all guests entering the garage and are reserved exclusively for guests using hybrid vehicles. Guests who drive to the Hotel in a hybrid vehicle will receive $25.00 off their room rate per night.

To help compensate for the increasing price of gas nationwide, The Westin Boston Waterfront is also offering the following special rate incentive:

When a guest of The Westin Boston Waterfront reserves a guestroom now through September 1, 2008, the national retail average price of gas is recorded with their reservation, as quoted weekly by the US Department of Energy. When the guest checks into the hotel, if gas prices have risen, the guest receives $1.00 off their standard room rate for every penny the amount has increased since the date of their booking. In the event that gas prices have dropped between the time of reservation and check-in, the guest will receive $2.00 off their standard room rate for every cent the amount has decreased.

Had a guest booked at The Westin Boston Waterfront during the week of February 4 when national gas prices had dipped to $3.02, and checked in to The Westin Boston Waterfront on April 28, as the national average soared to $3.62, they would have saved an additional $60.00 off the hotel’s best available rate!

The Westin Boston Waterfront General Manager David Connor is excited to ease the cost of travel: “As gas prices and travel costs continue to rise, it’s our pleasure to offer these savings and amenities as the busy summer travel season approaches,” says Connor. “We anticipate a large number of guests and families driving to the Hotel this summer and these two programs are an easy way to make life a bit easier for them. The Westin brand is about making guests relaxed while traveling and we hope this does just that.”
