Shows are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday this summer from June 17 - August 19. Admission is free making this event a favorite among the locals and summer visitors alike. Get ready to dance beneath the stars because between the free admission for all guests, great music, and the ice cold beverages, the Hot Summer Nights Concert Series is a must-see. After a knockout 20th Anniversary Season, the Bravo Festival forges ahead at full speed for 2008. The all-star line up of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic will dominate the 2008 season, running from June 25 to August 2, 2008, punctuated with more than 40 internationally renowned soloists and chamber musicians. Bravo’s many community outreach programs will fill the valley all summer long, enriching the lives of children and adults alike. Adults will enjoy complimentary Concerts in Public Places and the Festival’s Performance Prelude series. Children will be invited to join the musical community through Instrument Petting Zoos, Live at the Library concerts and the Free Family Concert with the National Repertory Orchestra.
Vail Jazz Festival June 25-August 24, 2008
The 2008 Summer of Jazz consists of several key programs. On June 25, Byron Stripling and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra will play the Gerald Ford Amphitheater in Vail in an event co-presented with Bravo!
The 2008 Summer of Jazz in Vail offers internationally acclaimed jazz ensembles and soloists as well as local and regional favorites. Audiences will enjoy The Clayton Brothers Quintet, Hendrik Meurkens Samba Jazz Quintet, and the legendary Jimmy Bruno trio. Solo performers include saxophonist Joel Frahm, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, pianists Benny Green and Don ‘Papadon’ Washington, Ann Hampton Callaway, and B-3 player Tony Monaco. Local favorites Tony Gulizia, Kathy Morrow Trio, Max Wagner Quartet, and the Mile High Chapel Choir will complete the summer of jazz in Vail at our Jazz at the Market series, playing Sundays from June 29 through August 24, 2008.
Vail International Dance Festival July 27-August 10, 2008
Since 1989, the Vail International Dance Festival has featured some of the greatest dance artists from around the world in seasoned classics, contemporary masterpieces and world premieres. The 2008 festival, continuing on the success of the 2007 season with Festival’s new director, Damian Woetzel, will include a wide array of dance from Paul Taylor Dance Company, Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Noche Flamenca, Keigwin + Company, Buckets and Tap Shoes, the brilliant stars of the International Evenings and the thrilling champions of Ballroom’s Best. Other programs include Ballroom Dancing in the Streets, Dance at $20.08 and Celebrate the Beat.
