Cascades, San Juan Islands, Olympics and more – 870 miles of sublime riding
Missoula, Mont. —Adventure Cycling Association — North America's largest cycling membership organization — today announced its new Washington Parks cycling route and map. This 870-mile, double loop route is laid out on two water-proof, tear-proof maps and offers many options for creating the ultimate bicycle trip in Washington State, including some of the best cycling terrain anywhere: the San Juan Islands, the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges, and more. The maps contain ample information about services along the routes, including ferry services, which will help cyclists construct fantastic hybrid loops crossing land and water. The maps also include Adventure Cycling's trademark field notes, providing insight into the landscapes that cyclists will experience while using the maps.
"These maps cover some of Washington State's most brilliant terrain," said Carla Majernik, Adventure Cycling's routes and mapping director. "They showcase the diversity of the state, its ocean and sound views in the west, the fertile orchards of the central Columbia Valley, and provide a chance to explore three national parks."
The addition of the Washington Parks route brings the total mileage of the Adventure Cycling Route Network to 38,080 miles. "We've seen 42% growth in our map sales in the last ten years, and that growth rate seems to be accelerating. Bicycle travelers are hungry for cycling-friendly routes through North America's most beautiful regions," said Jim Sayer, Adventure Cycling's executive director. "The Washington Parks route is a spectacular addition to the Adventure Cycling Route Network, which has to be one of the largest in the world."
