This Autumn …Fall for the Arts Across Cape Cod & Islands

09-08-2007

Hyannis, MA Autumn 2007 – Beginning September 21 and running to November 11, (seven weeks and weekends in all) there will be a Cape and Islands-wide arts and cultural extravaganza -- Fall for the Arts -- throughout Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Fall for the Arts, the autumn centerpiece of the arts and cultural movement in the region, is featuring art and cultural happenings along the five Cape Cod trails in all 15 Cape towns and two trails on the islands as enumerated within the Arts and Artisans Trails Guide to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

The nearly 200 artists and artisans featured within the Guide (plus many new, unlisted establishments), will be included in region-wide gallery tours and demonstrations, open houses and studios, raffles, lectures and slide presentations. New events and activities are being added daily. To participate or receive gifts and admissions in many locations, all one needs do is present or mention the Guide.

The number and variety of events is ever-changing and can be previewed at www.CapeCodCulturalExplorer.com.

About the Arts & Artisans Trails Guide to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket

The Guide’s is a full-color “guidebook to the arts and artisans” along seven distinct trails on Cape Cod and the islands. It provides self-guided driving and walking itineraries which lead readers to an eclectic assortment of artists, artisans’ studios and galleries, some on the main streets of the region, but many off the beaten path. In barns, attics, studios, at the ends of shady lanes and even in ‘underground’ galleries, artists and artisans revel in their crafts. Much of these arts and crafts reflect the Cape and Islands’ ethereal, intangible beauty and incomparable ‘sense of place’ which are their very inspiration.

The Guide is chocked full of wonderful photography, compelling and glorious samples of some of the timeless arts and crafts to be found along these seven trails, anecdotes and individual artists’ histories. But, aside from aesthetics, it is also a practical tool for both seasoned and new art collectors. While the Cape & Islands are magical kingdoms of artists and a collector’s Mecca, they are real places, too. Armed with the Guide, the double delight of trekking through the byways of the Cape’s and Islands’ outback and discovering unique and compelling pieces to treasure and invest in make it a regional arts and crafts ‘treasure map.’ And it is, quite literally, a map and provides actual up-close maps and explicitly detailed directions to each participating gallery, studio and shop.

The conveniently pocket-size Guide can be purchased for $9.95 in local bookstores and at the Cape Cod Chamber, lodging establishments and other Cape visitor centers or on-line at http://www.capeandislandsartsguide.com/.
