Northeast PA Region Welcomes Autumn with Value-Added Packages and Events

POCONO MOUNTAINS, PA, August 20, 2008 – The Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania will usher in the stunning colors of autumn with their annual Fall Foliage Hotline, an array of value-added packages featuring activities from scenic train rides to photography workshops, and a bevy of fall-themed festivals designed for leaf-peepers. 

A short drive from most major northeast metropolitan areas, visitors to the four-county region will find the Pocono Mountains more convenient than New England and equally awash in color; before traveling, they can call the 24-hour Fall Foliage Hotline (570-421-5565) or go online to www.800poconos.com to learn exactly when and where to catch peak foliage colors.  Reports include the percentage of full color, the estimated time leaves will be at their peak, the percentage of leaves on the trees and a description of native tree species at their peak.

Pocono Garlic Festival Package, valid August 29-31, 2008.

Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

Situated on the Delaware River, the four-season Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort will celebrate the annual Pocono Garlic Festival with an all-inclusive package that includes a choice of Friday and Saturday night or Saturday and Sunday night accommodations, breakfast two mornings, tickets to the Garlic Festival and all taxes and resort fees.  Rates are $267 per person, based on double occupancy. Youth ages 12-17 are $44 inclusive for meals and festival.  Children ages five-11 are $27 inclusive for meals and festival.

Pocono Environmental Education Center
Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) invites foliage-seekers to capture the fall colors surrounding the facility with professional photographer John Barclay.  Barclay will help amateurs snap local waterfalls, reflections in streams, abandoned barns and more.  Package includes six meals (Friday dinner - Sunday lunch) and optional Friday and Saturday night lodging in a PEEC cabin or yurt.  Package is $135/member and $180/non-member without lodging or $195/member and $215/non-member with lodging.
