Pocono Mountains TAKE THE Great Pennsylvania Outdoor Challenge
POCONO MOUNTAINS, PA, September 2, 2008 - The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation has announced an event that will both test the limits of your spirit for adventure and improve the quality and beauty of our Pennsylvania State Parks. The Great Pennsylvania Outdoor Challenge (GPOC) will take place September 12 to September 30 throughout various state parks in Pennsylvania.
The GPOC challenge offers a series of customized personal challenges that are meant to raise funds for parks, forests, friends, groups and the Foundation. These challenges can be created by anyone and are meant to be shared with family, friends and colleagues. With seven state parks; 72,000 acres of state forests; the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area; and numerous state gamelands, the Pocono Mountains region is the perfect place in which to plan an exciting challenge.
GPOC is being held in honor of Dr. Maurice K. Goddard, the driving force behind the creation of 45 Pennsylvania state parks during his 24 years of service. In order to participate you must create a challenge or choose one that was previously created, and then register with a donation of $20. Registration information can be found at www.firstgiving.org or www.paparksandforests.org. Participants will receive a free GPOC t-shirt and will become eligible for prizes.
