Bridge Day,
For those interested in watching the BASE jumpers from the bottom of the New River Gorge, West Virginia American Water and the New River Juniors have teamed up this year to offer a Down Under Tour. For $50 per person, individuals will be able to pick a time, either 8:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., to board a van into the gorge to watch rappellers as they slide and BASE jumpers as they leap 876 feet to the bottom. Included in the price is a lunch for each participant. Spaces are limited, so get your requests in as soon as possible! Songer Whitewater and the Motorcycle Safety Awareness Program are hosting a ride for motorcyclists on Bridge Day to promote safety awareness for both riders and motorists. The best way to get to the bridge is to ride the Appalachian Power shuttles. This year, Appalachian Power and the Oak Hill Rotary Club have agreed to help sponsor the shuttles to keep them affordable.
