Tauck Bridges Adds Three New Itineraries For 2009 Including 10-01-2008

60% Increase in Itineraries, 45% Increase in Departures in Two Years

NORWALK, CT - (September 30, 2008) - Tauck Bridges, Tauck World Discovery’s family division, is expanding its collection of family-friendly adventures for 2009 with the addition of three new itineraries, including the first-ever river cruise designed especially for families.  The latest additions bring the total number of Tauck Bridges itineraries to 16, with family travel adventures offered in Europe, North America, Latin America and Africa.  Tauck Bridges departures increased by 45% in the past two years, proving to be one of the fastest-growing segments of Tauck’s business, resulting in more than double the number of family itineraries to choose from.

The new eight-day Tauck Bridges itineraries, priced per person, not inclusive of air, are:

  • Cruising the Blue Danube (from $3,290*) is the first-ever family river cruise trip.  Beginning in Budapest, families travel the Danube to visit Bratislava, Vienna, Dürnstein, Linz, Passau and Regensburg, with a full-day excursion to Salzburg along the way.  A number of family-friendly specially crafted activities include: an exciting rally race in Bratislava featuring kayaking, an archery competition, ropes course and scavenger hunt; a hands-on strudel-making demonstration at Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna; a visit to quirky, whimsical Hellbrunn Castle near Salzburg; a marzipan sculpting class, etc.
  • Once Upon A Time: Budapest to Vienna (from $3,295*), features multiple-night stays in the imperial cities of Budapest and Vienna, as well as Graz, Austria.  The trip also includes a dinner cruise along the Danube and visits to Buda’s Castle Hill, the Lipizzaner Horse Farm, the Erzberg Mountain UNESCO World Heritage Site and Schönbrunn Palace.
  • Majestic California: The Pacific, Redwoods & Yosemite” (from $2,698*) offers sightseeing in San Francisco, a narrated cruise of San Francisco Bay and a trip inland to explore Yosemite National Park during a three-night stay at Yosemite’s Tenaya Lodge.  The west coast adventure concludes with a two-night stay in the historic oceanfront town of Monterey

Tauck CEO Dan Mahar credits Tauck Bridges’ success to the uniqueness of its approach.  “Other family travel options seem designed to segregate the different generations, with special ‘kids-only’ areas on cruise ships and at resorts, and separate activities,” said Mahar.  “We build each Tauck Bridges trip around what we call ‘shared enrichment,’ in which the different generations build bonds – or bridges – by experiencing the joys of travel together.”

Tauck Bridges’ virtually all-inclusive itineraries are priced seasonally and start at $1,945 per person.*  Pricing includes everything from taxes to most meals, shore excursions and all gratuities.  For reservations, or a full-color, 68-page 2009 Tauck Bridges brochure, please call (800) 468-2825 or visit www.tauckbridges.com
