DR’s Third Annual Fashion Week

New Access Roads for DR’s Constanza
DR’s Ministry of Tourism announces plans to rejuvenate three access routes to Constanza. Plans include repaving the San Jose de Ocoa-Constanza road linking Constanza to the south of the country, and the Constanza-Jarabacoa road linking to Jarabacoa. Work on the Duarte Highway-Constanza road continues to be on schedule. The Ministry of Tourism recently built a new viewing platform at popular tourist destination Aguas Blancas, making it easier and safer for tourists to view the falls. DR’s Columbus Lighthouse Reopens
The Columbus Lighthouse Museum reopened August 5. Built in the shape of a cross in reinforced concrete, it houses the remains of the Spanish navigator Christopher Columbus. The Lighthouse is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For additional information, call: (809) 591-1492.
DR’s Ocean World Opens New Show

DR’s Duarte Shopping District and Enriquillo Park Reopen
President Leonel Fernandez officially opened the Duarte Shopping District and remodeled Enriquillo Park on Aug. 3, 2008. The city enhancement works were carried out by the Santo Domingo city government at a cost of more than RD$217 million, as reported by the Presidency. Underground electricity was installed, which accounted for RD$162 million of the investment. A three-level plaza for small vendors was completed at adjacent Mella Avenue.
