Sailing four nights upstream on the Yangtze River offers the wonderful scenery of the Three Gorges -- Qutang  Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge -- and the world’s largest hydroelectric project, the Three Gorges Dam.  A sampan ride (Asian skiff) provides a close-up view of monkeys and goats on the hillsides of the mini gorges of Ma Du River.

In Xi’an, Gold participants have the opportunity to see the Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum’s private artifact room and handle some of the national treasures; view the legions of terracotta warriors and the Bronze Chariot; and feast on a dumpling lunch in a private dining room at the highly regarded Defachang Restaurant.  A deluxe river cruise along Guilin’s Li River showcases the region’s mist-shrouded peaks and includes visits to the market town of Yangshuo.  A four-day stay in Hong Kong boasts visits to Stanley Market; Repulse Bay; a sampan cruise to see Aberdeen’s floating community and plenty of free time for shopping and other pursuits.
