PRINCESS ROYAL ISLAND, GREAT BEAR RAINFOREST, BC, CANADA (January 7, 2009) – The readers of Condé Nast Traveler named King Pacific Lodge, A Rosewood Resort, to the magazine's Gold List 2009. The 15th annual list is considered by many to be the ultimate annotated guide to the world's finest properties and cruise lines as selected by more than 32,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers. King Pacific Lodge received top recognition in four of the six award categories: food, location, design and activities; with an overall score of 97.4.
• Rooms: 96.9
• Service: 96.9
• Food: 96.9
• Location: 100
• Design: 96.9
• Activities: 96.9
The lodge was also recently named a winner as Best Resort in Canada and the Fourth Best of the Best among all resorts, hotels and cruise lines in the world in Conde Nast Traveler's 21st Annual Readers' Choice Awards.
"This recognition by affluent global travelers is undeniable evidence of the success of a triple bottom line approach to tourism – one that recognizes that economic success is attainable because of an attention to social equity and conservation, not despite it,” commented Michael Uehara, president, King Pacific Lodge.
King Pacific Lodge Gold List 2009 entry: "Everything is pure luxury and quality" at the top-scoring property in the Americas, an ecolodge on a floating former U.S. Navy barge off the Great Bear Rainforest, a perfect-scoring location. Its remoteness—the resort is accessible only by boat or floatplane—allows guests to "watch humpback whales feeding" from their bedroom window. Interiors have red cedar paneling, pine columns, and floor-to-ceiling windows; rooms, with driftwood furniture, are "luxurious but with a natural, rustic feel." Organic fare such as seaweed-crusted albacore tuna is "truly excellent." "Staff enhance the experience from check-in to checkout." The property offsets all its carbon emissions. www.concierge.com.

About Condé Nast Traveler
Truth in Travel: Many travel publications accept free travel and accommodations. Condé Nast Traveler does not, and its correspondents, as far as possible, travel anonymously. They experience travel the way consumers do, both the good and the bad, and report on it fairly and honestly. In 2008, Condé Nast Traveler was named one of the top 10 magazines in the U.S. by both Adweek and Advertising Age- one of only three magazines in the U.S. to be named on both lists. Condé Nast Traveler has an audience of 3.1 million and is published by Condé Nast Publications, Inc. Online at cntraveler.com.
