WHERE THE MOUNTAIN MEETS THE SEA
(January 8, 2009 – Camden, ME) – Winter is more fun in Camden, where the mountain meets the sea and residents and visitors snowshoe, toboggan, ski and ice skate in one of Maine’s loveliest towns. The Camden Harbour Inn has created a special package to make participants in the National Toboggan Championships at the Camden Snow Bowl feel like elite athletes pampered in style with luxurious accommodations, gourmet meals and a racing slot in the event taking place February 6-8.
The package includes a two night stay, gourmet breakfast each morning, and a gourmet fondue dinner at the award-winning Natalie’s restaurant. The Camden Harbour Inn will also provide a toboggan and racing slot in the Camden Snow Bowl so guests are free to concentrate their efforts on visualizing their runs.
As a special night before pre-race warm-up, guests will be welcomed with a glass of Prosecco and delicious hors d’oeuvres. The package starts at $249 per person based on double occupancy. Taxes, gratuities and alcoholic beverages are additional. There are a limited number of packages available.
Camden Harbour Inn owner Raymond Brunyanszki spoke of this package, “The National Toboggan Championship is a wonderful event in Camden each year and we are thrilled to join in the fun with this package.” Brunyanszki added, “We plan on making sure our guests are in tip-top shape for the race by providing them with delicious food and very comfortable accommodations for the weekend.”
A classic European-style inn with a contemporary spin, the Camden Harbour Inn is nestled atop a stunning hillside offering views of picturesque Camden Harbour, Mount Battie and Penobscot Bay. Built originally as a lodging establishment in 1874, this historic property was completely renovated last year following a $2 million refit which has transformed the property into an exquisite boutique hotel, with world-class personalized service.
The Inn’s 18 guestrooms - each with a distinct style and dazzling view – offer every modern convenience as well as uber-luxe bathrooms, robes and fine linens. Some rooms offer fireplaces, balconies and/or private decks. The Inn and the restaurant, Natalie’s, recently earned the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award.
Natalie’s has been called the finest gourmet eatery in Maine, offering sophisticated décor, impeccable service and gourmet dining without the pressure of formal attire, served under the culinary direction of Chef de Cuisine Lawrence Klang. Natalie’s is a stunning restaurant offering Modern French cuisine – as well as a 200 specialty wines from its exceptional wine cellar – all in a beautiful relaxed setting with a nod to the past with its bar designed from doors salvaged from a French convent.
The towns of Camden, Rockport and Rockland are considered Mid-Coast Maine's arts and cultural hub, with scores of renowned museums, including the celebrated Farnsworth Museum, country fairs, seasonal festivals, historic libraries, lighthouses. Camden’s Main Street village shops offer a host of wonderful items, while the nearby Library and Harbor Park, as well as dozens of boutiques and galleries offer something for everyone. Active travelers will enjoy area hiking, biking and sea kayaking, as well as winter pursuits such as downhill and cross-country skiing, snow boarding, snowshoeing, ice skating and more.
