Three new feature stories highlight local wine, wildlife and Pleasure Point
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA— The Santa Cruz County Conference and Visitors Council (CVC) announces the publication of the 2009 Official Santa Cruz County Traveler’s Guide. The 2009 Guide, 80-pages thick, features a new design, enhanced area maps, and an emphasis on three new feature stories as well as regular elements visitors have come to expect from the 14-year old publication.
The Official Santa Cruz County Traveler’s Guide also includes an enhanced -- and more detailed – countywide map. The map features four inset maps of Capitola Village, Downtown Santa Cruz, Watsonville and beach areas, a new design element this year, to help travelers navigate through the county, as well as new attraction and direction icons, and distance charts.
"This is the most reliable and comprehensive guide produced for visitors to Santa Cruz County.” said Maggie Ivy, Executive Vice President and CEO of the CVC. "It's like having your own personal tour guide to our many state parks, attractions, restaurants and things to do, and it is provided to travelers free of charge."
Debuting later in January, using NXTbook’s interactive technology, Web site visitors who log on to www.santacruzcounty.travel can view the full Guide directly from the homepage. NXTbook software enables the online Traveler’s Guide to pop up in any type of browser window. The online guide - the pages of which appear to “turn” - reads just like a printed guide but with a significant additional feature. Completely interactive, the electronic guide enables potential visitors to click through to advertisers' Web sites.
Three new feature stories grace the pages of the 2009 guide. Addressing the demand from visitors for more wine-related focus, a story highlighting the wine scene in Santa Cruz County - as inspired as its cuisine – is brand new. Additional destination stories on Pleasure Point and a splashy wildlife spread also add to the descriptive nature of the editorial content.
Local photographer Paul Zaretsky contributed the cover photo, an image of Santa Cruz County’s iconic wildlife. The glossy, magazine-style Traveler’s Guide is published every year, and contains sections on activities, events, a county-wide map, and dining and lodging grids highlighting the amenities offered by various restaurants, hotels, bed and breakfast inns, campgrounds and other property choices. Destination and theme-oriented stories with accompanying photography round out the guide, making it one of the CVC’s top marketing resources for promoting Santa Cruz County to visitors. The Santa Cruz County CVC worked in producing the annual guide with local publisher Hutton-Sherer in Soquel, California. The guide, supported by 117 advertisers throughout the county is available at the CVC’s main visitor center at 1211 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz, and at key locations countywide.
