Spring Program at Oxford University

Costs Almost $500 Less Than Last Year

 

Oxford, U.K., February 10, 2009—When Alfred Noyes wrote "…Spring comes back to England and dons her robe of green," he could well have been thinking of Oxford.  What could be better than a spring week in Oxford, learning about the oldest university in the English-speaking world and enjoying its blooming gardens and riverside walks.  Insider's Oxford, a one-week program now in its second year, is scheduled for March 29 to April 4 and is open to everyone.  There are no special requirements, no tests and no papers. 

 

The program is especially attractive this year, since the British pound is now worth $1.44, bringing the price down to $1,483.  (Last year the program cost $1,946.)  This fee covers six nights' accommodation in Worcester College in a single room with private bath, three meals daily, 10 lectures and five afternoon tours, which include other Oxford colleges and gardens, several of the university museums, the University Press and the Bodleian Library.

 

Participants will experience college life: dining in Worcester College's 18^th-century hall; walking through the college's 26 acres of woods, lake and gardens; and talking with tutors over coffee.  In the mornings, lectures by Oxford teaching staff cover Oxford history and writers; art, music and religion at Oxford; and the university's unique teaching system and future development. 

 

Participants arrive on Sunday, March 29, in time for an informal lunch. The program starts with an opening reception and dinner in the Dining Hall.  The program concludes on Friday with a closing reception and dinner and departure is after breakfast on Saturday, April 4.

 

Several airlines are offering good deals to London at the moment and The Oxford Bus Company has frequent service to Oxford from London and Heathrow airport.
