Catch an exclusive preview of one of the hottest shows on the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival’s 2009 programme as the festival celebrates being part of Homecoming Scotland 2009.

The Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival is now in its 7th year and with 370 shows across 51 venues in 18 days in the cultural capital of Scotland is now the largest comedy Festival in Europe, attracting comedy talent from around the world as well as the best on the UK and European scene. The festival is proud to be one of the official Homecoming Scotland events.

Homecoming Scotland is a year long program of over 300 events across Scotland in celebration of some of Scotland’s great contributions to the world: whisky, golf, great minds and innovations, Scotland’s national poet and cultural icon, Robert Burns, and Scotland’s rich culture and heritage that lives on at home and through our global family. For more information about Homecoming Scotland, visit: www.homecomingscotland2009.com

To celebrate Homecoming the festival has invited three of the hottest comics in New York, Danny Lobell, Marshall Chiles and Bernadette Pauley to perform at their ‘American Homecoming’ showcase on the 28th March. “There are no better people on this planet than Glaswegians, and I can't wait to come play for my people and enjoy some of that good Scottish weather!” Danny Lobell.

All three share more than a comedy gene; each one has family roots in Scotland. “All my life I have been told that my family heritage is Scottish, English & Irish.  I look forward to going over to Scotland because this will be my first time to that country, finishing off my trifecta of family origin since I have already performed in England & Ireland. “Marshall Chiles

To start off our Homecoming celebrations in style, we are holding a preview of the showcase at the Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan - giving New Yorkers a taste of the hilarious comedy that is the foundation of the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival. ‘I cannot wait to come home to experience the famous Scottish hospitality and sense of humour’ Bernadette Pauley. Our three Homecoming comedians will also be joined by native Scot Charlotte MacDonald.  Charlotte’s varied career and unique viewpoint guarantee a raucous comedic ride!   An established act on the Scottish comedy scene, Charlotte is now breaking into the New York comedy circuit.  With this a great mix of Scottish humour you are guaranteed a hilarious night of comedy at the Gotham.

Come along and catch these three great acts before they go home to the land of their ancestors.

Performer Biographies

Danny Lobell

Danny Lobell's mother was born in Glasgow, Scotland and Danny spent many childhood summers there, and was a member of the Glasgow Swim team as a kid.

Danny has been doing comedy for the past seven years in New York City and around the US; playing all the clubs and basements in the Village, and doing a weekly radio show in Manhattan on 87.9FM that can be heard on www.Comicalradio.com / www.myspace.com/dlobell

Bernadette Pauley

Bernie’s great grandmother, Marcella McEachern, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and came to the U.S. by way of Cape Britain when she was a child. The daughter of a cabdriver and union steward, how could she be anything BUT funny? She has many TV credits under her belt including Comics Unleashed, Comedy Central's Tough Crowd, VH-1, MTV, and hosting Lorne Michael's Burly TV on TBS as well as local TV/radio appearances throughout the country while touring colleges, comedy clubs, casinos and theaters. You may have seen her smart ass comments in Life & Style Magazine’s ‘Style Slipups’ pages every week, although you may not admit you read it. www.LowClassBlonde.com

Marshall Chiles

Marshall’s great-grandmother, Mussie Greene, is from Alford in Aberdeenshire on the West coast of Scotland. He started stand-up comedy at the beginning of 2001. Since that cold winter night, he has begun to find out whom he really is and what his core genius is... and that core genius seems to be a recovering dickhead battling several addictions.

In the summer of 2002, Marshall took over running The Funny Farm Comedy Club just outside Atlanta, GA and he has built it to be one of the best comedy clubs in the country. Having his own stage to experiment has helped him grow as a comedian and person.   He is also the host and head writer for The National Lampoon Pop Culture Minute (or So). This project is a daily radio vignette played on 20 radio stations across the country every morning.  www.mccomedy.com

Charlotte Macdonald

Ballsy native Scot, Charlotte Macdonald's many varied careers and unique view point guarantee a raucous comedic ride!   An established act on the Scottish comedy scene, Charlotte is now breaking into the New York comedy circuit.
