Two classical commissions to premiere at SMF 2009 CHRISTOPHER THEOFANIDIS - SYMPHONY (2009) The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform a new Symphony by Christopher Theofanidis at the festival finale on April 5. Written for an orchestra of 95 members (the largest to appear in Savannah in some time), the new piece will be followed by an explosive end: Marcus Roberts playing Gershwin's "Concerto in F" with the orchestra. Bonnie Raitt concert rescheduled for October 16 Due to a dire family health emergency, Bonnie Raitt has rescheduled her March 18 concert at the Johnny Mercer Theatre in Savannah for October 16, 2009. In an official statement from her management, Raitt relayed that she is “very sorry and regrets any inconvenience to her fans.” The highly anticipated return of Bonnie Raitt to Savannah is now scheduled for Friday, October 16 at 7:30 pm.
