New York, March 2009 -- Peter Deilmann Cruises has announced a revised Passenger Protection Plan that adds “loss of job” to the plan benefits for guests buying insurance in conjunction with their purchase of a Deilmann's European river cruise or an ocean cruise on the company's deluxe vessel MS Deutschland. According to Ronald Santangelo, Peter Deilmann Cruises’ president, “Deilmann Cruises is concerned that buying decisions are being postponed because of the uncertainties surrounding possible job loss. Our solution is to expand the coverage of our trip insurance to cover this possibility.” This new benefit is being added at no increase to the current price for the Travel Protection Plan.
For those purchasing the standard Peter Deilmann policy from Trip Mate, coverage against “job loss” would include protection for the traveler (and those sharing the stateroom who have also purchased the Travel Protection Plan) from any cancellation penalties from the cruise line and even from hotels or airlines if those services were also purchased from Deilmann. The “job loss” protection provision is available for all new bookings made after March 26, 2009. In order to be reimbursed under the “job loss” provision, the insured person must be continuously employed on a full time basis by the same employer for 2 years or more at the time the plan is purchased and his/her involuntary job termination must occur 30 days or more after the Travel Protection Plan purchase. Costs for the Travel Protection Plan vary with the price of the cruise and begin at $115 per person for coverage up to $2,500 and go to as much as $1,060 for coverage up to $20,000 per person.
The scope of the coverage of the Peter Deilmann Cruises Protection Plan includes some of the usual things like lost baggage, medical expenses and emergency assistance, emergency medical evacuation, trip delay, post-departure trip interruption, pre-departure trip cancellation, accidental death and many other items, but it may also provide coverage for some unusual things like pre-existing medical conditions (if the policy is purchased within 7 days of deposit) and terrorist acts. Complete details of the terms, policy provisions and description of the coverages provided are in the Travel Insurance Certificate, available on request from Deilmann to all prospective buyers of the protection plan.
Deilmann’s Passenger Travel Protection Plan is available only to citizens or residents of the United States of America. For more information call Peter Deilmann Cruises at (800) 348-8287.
