WALK THROUGH BOSTON’S HISTORY WITH FREEDOM TRAIL PACKAGES

03-30-2009

Boston, Massachusetts, March 30, 2009—Step back in time and explore Boston’s rich history with one of its top attractions - The Freedom Trail.  The Fairmont Copley Plaza and Fairmont Battery Wharf each offer packages for travelers who want to experience Boston’s rich colonial history.

Rich with heritage, The Fairmont Copley Plaza, located in the city’s Back Bay, epitomizes the culture, history, and traditions of Boston with its Freedom Trail Discovery Package.  This package includes one night in an elegant guestroom, two tickets to the Walk Into History tour with an 18th century costumed guide, two tickets to the three Freedom Trail historic museums (Old South Meeting House, Old State House and Paul Revere House) and a copy of The Freedom Trail: An Artist’s View.  This package is available April 1 through December 31, 2009, and rates start at $349.00. The Fairmont Copley Plaza also offers guests who want to truly immerse themselves the unique experience of a Freedom Trail Suite. Developed by historians and archivists, this suite is a mini-museum that celebrates Boston’s colonial heritage.  Guests may upgrade to the Freedom Trail Suite for an additional charge of $400 per night.

Boston’s rich history has its roots on the waterfront and the city’s newest harbor side hotel, Fairmont Battery Wharf offers a Pirates and Patriots Package.  Three hundred years of history are just steps away from this newly developed hotel which is an ideal location to explore the history of the city.  The Pirates & Patriots Package celebrates the spirit of Boston’s early patriots, and pirates, by exploring the waterfront with an 18th century costumed guide to learn about the Revolutionary history of Boston’s thriving seaport. This package includes overnight accommodations and two tickets to the Pirates & Patriots Freedom Trail Tour (which departs daily at 1:30 p.m. from the BosTix booth in Faneuil Hall).  This package is available through October 31, 2009, and rates start at $399.  .

The Freedom Trail features sixteen historic sites, all significant in this country's early struggle for freedom, connected by a 2.5 mile red brick line that not only links one place to another, but the past to the present. The sites on the Freedom Trail are not recreations or adaptations. They are real. Each one – from Boston Common to the Old North Church to the USS Constitution to the State House – has a role in the beginning of a nation, and each one connects us to the spirit of Boston's early patriots whose hearts were ignited by the spark of liberty.

To complement your visit to the actual colonial sites along the Freedom Trail, we suggest a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, which boasts a stunning collection of 18th century silver, decorative arts and portraiture from the period.  Tickets to the Museum of Fine Arts and additional Freedom Trail tickets are available for purchase at the Front Desk.

All packages are double occupancy, based upon availability and exclusive of tax and gratuity.  To make reservations please call (800) 441-1414 or visit www.fairmont.com.
