News-Journal Center at Daytona State College, Daytona Beach The critically acclaimed Celtic Crossroads offers an explosion of youthful energy, creatively combined with dazzling musicianship. The eight-member band performs with two Irish dancers, and is known for fusing traditional Irish tunes with bluegrass, gypsy and jazz. Until June of 2008, Celtic Crossroads was known to the fans as Music at the Crossroads. Tickets: $30
Tiempo Libre

One of today’s hottest young Latin bands, the two-time Grammy-nominated Tiempo Libre was classically trained in Cuba’s premiere conservatories. The group’s seven members came together in 2001 to create the first authentic all-Cuban timba band in the United States. Since that time, the group has been enthusiastically sharing the irresistible rhythms of their Latin jazz sound with audiences at festivals and venues around the world. Most recently, Tiempo Libre released the Grammy-nominated album, Lo Que Esperabas. Tickets: $20
Ballet Hispanico
Tuesday and Wednesday, April 28-29, 8 p.m.
News-Journal Center at Daytona State College, Daytona Beach With their magnetic energy and dazzling choreography, the internationally acclaimed Ballet Hispanico Company will perform a rousing selection of Latin dance numbers, including Club Havana, which offers the enthralling rhythms of the Conga, Rumba, Mambo, and Cha Cha from Cuban choreographer Pedro Ruiz. Artistic Director Tina Ramirez and her 13-member Latino dance company are known for fusing Latin dance with classical and contemporary elements. Bluegrass Festival; Lovell Sisters, Ralph Stanley, Cherryholmes Friday, May 1, 7 p.m.
Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, Ormond Beach For one unforgettable evening, the rumbling of Harley Davidson engines will be muted by the heart-thumping sounds of bluegrass greats the Lovell Sisters, Ralph Stanley, and Cherryholmes. A new event for the 2009 Festival, the “bluegrass bash” is at the heart of the Festival’s expansion and accessibility efforts. Tickets: $20
The Lovell Sisters are celebrated for their innovative fusion of country, folk and contemporary acoustic music. The sisters – Jessica, Megan and Rebecca – have been playing together since age 5, and it shows. In 2005, the girls won NPR’s National Teen Talent Competition on Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. The girls later released their debut album, When Forever Rolls Around, and are working on a second.
Joining the Lovell Sisters in Ormond Beach is three time GRAMMY winner and composer of O Brother, Where Art Thou, Ralph Stanley, arguably one of the most important country musicians in the world. Stanley has recorded nearly 200 albums, and has an incredible list of accolades, including three Grammy awards, the Living Legend Award from the Library of Congress, and a Traditional American Music award from the National Endowment for Humanities.
Their incredibly energetic and delightful style of bluegrass music earned the family band, Cherryholmes, the 2005 IBMA Entertainer of the Year award. On stage and in the studio, the dynamic, six-member group showcases their twin fiddles, Irish step dancing and traditional country yodeling. The group released Cherryholmes II in June 2007, which opened up at number one on the Billboard Charts.
