One highlight of the year-long festivities features a big band concert by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, whose original band members put the Terminal Station on the map with their recording of “Chattanooga Choo Choo” in 1941. Although other songs had sold over a million record copies, Glenn Miller’s “Chattanooga Choo Choo” received the first Gold Record ever to be awarded in 1941.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring this famous song and many more big band sounds to the Chattanooga Choo Choo on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The Chattanooga Choo Choo offers two exciting one-night packages, “In the Mood” and “Moonlight Serenade,” which include tickets to the concert, a pre-concert social in the Formal Gardens, a prime rib dinner buffet, a commemorative photo, and a Glenn Miller CD of Golden Hits. Packages start at $229 and extra nights are available at special rates for creating a memorable weekend getaway. Tickets to the concert and the pre-concert social only are also available.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra has been on the road longer and more continuously than any other Big Band, traveling over 100,000 miles each year and playing nearly 300 dates. The entire Glenn Miller repertoire now exceeds 1,700 compositions, which keeps the band popular with young and old alike.
This is an event YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS! We hope to Welcome You Aboard on May 16.
