Celebrating October at the Inn of The Five Graces in Santa Fe
In the late fall sunshine, the adobe walls of Santa Fe, New Mexico’s most historic retreat glow a rosy pink. One has only to enter the Inn of the Five Graces to discover that come October, the signature color here is pumpkin orange! The inn pays tribute to "the great pumpkin" three ways this Halloween.
The technicians at the inn’s intimate spa are always on-hand to make guests feel and appear picture perfect. In the month of October, this is achieved with help from the "great" pumpkin when the spa introduces introduce a pumpkin-based oil for their signature massages. The spa is known for its massages and this seasonal massage oil - a blend of New Mexico produce and "sister" ingredients: pumpkin oil, piñon oil and maize oil - will be available for any of their four signature massages: Ayurvedic Healing Massage; R&R Massage; High Mountain Hydration and Respiratory Ease. Pumpkin oil is rich in anti-oxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, fruit enzymes and vitamins A and C. Applied topically, it can be part of a routine to revive tired skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. The naturally occurring fruit enzymes promote the regular renewal of skin cells, a 28-day process that can slow with aging.
For the guests pleasure and a boost of energy, before or after the spa treatments, guests are treated to minted water and pepitas - a popular southwestern snack of toasted and spiced pumpkin seeds.
The Inn of the Five Graces takes pride in the local Halloween and All Saints Day celebrations and traditions by making the décor a family affair. Andrea, the ten year-old daughter of associate manager and a fourth generation Santa Fe resident, Anthony Martinez, invites her class to draw the stencils to make elaborate carved pumpkins in customary New Mexican designs that stud each guestrooms doorways and keep the warm spirit of the season alight at the only Relais & Châteaux property in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
