Lewes, Delaware to host Chautauqua tent shows from June 21–25, 2009

“America on Stage” program includes jugglers, music, and crafts, culminating with historic re-enactors portraying Frederick Douglass, the Lone Ranger, Annie Oakley, and more
(Dover, DE—June 4, 2009)—Stars of the American stage including P.T. Barnum, Frederick Douglass, the Lone Ranger, and Annie Oakley will be brought back to life during the 11th Annual Chautauqua Tent Show that will take place in Lewes, Delaware from June 21–25, 2009.
A unique mixture of education and entertainment, Lewes’ 2009 Chautauqua will be held under a large tent and will feature jugglers, music, and crafts, culminating with historic re-enactors who take on the personas of celebrated historical figures, educating and entertaining audiences as they give history a human face. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions and interact with the re-enactors who will remain in character throughout their appearances.

Programs will take place from June 21 to 23 at the Zwaanendael Museum, 102 Kings Highway, and June 24 and 25 at the Lewes Historical Society, 110 Shipcarpenter St. In addition, the U.S. Navy Commodores jazz ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. on June 23 at Stango Park, 111 Adams Ave.
