Newport Beach, Southern California, (June 8, 2009) – As part of a new partnership with Crystal Cove State Park and The Beachcomber, guests at The Resort at Pelican Hill can now spend a leisurely summer day on the pristine beach within the stunning seaside nature preserve, complete with personal lounge chairs and umbrellas set up in the sand and special amenities and services. Welcome to the ultimate California outing at the sea: “The Resort at Pelican Hill Beach Experience.”
Pelican Hill is adjacent to the 2,791-acre Crystal Cove State Park, one of the most beautiful oceanfront nature preserves remaining in Southern California. Crystal Cove is also home to a famous eatery, The Beachcomber Café, and the nostalgic Old California ambiance of a historic district of 46 beach cottages built in the 1920s to the 1950s. This is the reminiscent setting for the new summer beach program for the guests of The Resort at Pelican Hill, and it comes with a host of special amenities and services including:
§ Complimentary round-trip shuttle service anytime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily
§ Complimentary Adult Beach Bag for two with two towels, two bottles of water, sunscreen, Smashball paddles and ball
§ Complimentary Children’s Beach Bag with two towels, two waters and assorted sand toys complete with bucket and shovel
§ Beach Attendants who set-up complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas for guests on the sand
§ Food and beverage service on the sand, provided by The Beachcomber Café.
At Crystal Cove, guests can stroll along 3.5 miles of unspoiled beach, explore tide pools and enjoy dramatic rock formations and 80-foot bluffs lapped by the surf. The park offers swimming, nature hikes in coastal hills and canyons, mountain biking, and miles of multi-use paths for walking, jogging and cycling. The 46 beach cottages at the ocean’s edge, which have been the setting for many Hollywood films and are on the National Register of Historic Places, are being restored by California State Parks with many already returned to their original look.
The Beachcomber Café is a local fun spot right on the sand with an outdoor tropical bar called The Bootlegger. Pelican Hill guests can enjoy the delectable menu of California cuisine featuring everything from organic salads and fish tacos to a Kobe Beef hamburger.
“The Resort at Pelican Hill has created a unique summer Beach Experience that taps the best of California past and present,” said Thierry Grandsire, General Manager of The Resort at Pelican Hill. “Our guests are immersed in the California that once was, in the untouched nature and historic district of Crystal Cove State Park, while enjoying the amenities and services of today.”
