(June 10, 2009) - Just in time for summer, the Tides Inn has added three aquatic-inspired treatments to its spa menu, reflecting the resort's marine location, surrounded by Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac and Rappahannock rivers. The waterfront property has proven to be one of the most popular amenities for Tides Inn guests and a destination for spa enthusiasts in the surrounding communities.

One of the most rejuvenating therapies comes from one of the oldest plants on earth: seaweed. The Chesapeake Seaweed Leaf Wrap (90 minutes) utilizes mineral-rich, wet seaweed leaves that are freshly harvested from the ocean. The leaves are placed across the body to detoxify and deeply hydrate the skin in a warm, skin-softening body wrap. A full body massage completes this anti-aging treatment.

Seashells have an uplifting, light and natural energy. The Lava Shell Massage (60 or 90 minutes) uses heated shells from the Pacific Ocean combined with natural ingredients of minerals, sea kelp, algae and salt water. The smooth, contoured surfaces of the shells glide over the body, creating a synergy of warmth, relaxation, and a deep calm to gently soothe away stress.

Marine Herbal Facial (60 or 90 minutes) is a customized treatment using a special blend of herbs and spirulina-essentially a vitamin pill for the skin-to help renew skin cells. Skin will also be treated to the extra hydration provided by a steamer followed by a classic aromatherapy facial that leaves skin toned and moisturized.

Guests can experience these new marine-inspired treatments in the serene atmosphere of the Tides spa overlooking Carters Creek. Massages are also offered in-room, in the outdoor spa gazebo, or on your boat.
