Olympic National Forest lodge offers interactive fun for the entire family
OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST, Wash. – Aug. 10, 2009 – Lake Quinault Lodge, a historic lodge located in the heart of the rainforest in Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, introduces three new interpretive lake tours this summer, available through Sept. 14, 2009. Lake Quinault Lodge is located three-and-a-half hours from Seattle and is an ideal starting place to explore the tranquil waters, emerald rainforest and unique wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. The three new lake tours are as follows:
· The Day Break Lake Tour invites guests to start a calm day at Lake Quinault, where they can catch a glimpse of osprey birds fishing upon the lake, or catch a glimpse of bald eagles and river otters. Guests will learn about the vistas, rain forest, wildlife, fisheries, tribal life and the creation of national parks and forests, and gain insight into the most popular things to see and do in the Quinault Rain Forest. The tour runs from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and costs $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12.
· The Picnic Lake Tour will take guests on a narrated tour of the lush area by water. Guests will disembark the tour boat to enjoy a specially prepared picnic lunch while touring the tremendous old growth trees, including giant Douglas firs, hemlocks, spruce and cedars, and watching the nearby osprey birds. The boat tour, which runs from 12:30 – 3:15 p.m., includes a picnic lunch and costs $40 for adults and $22 for children under 12.
· Finally, the Evening Lake Tour, similar to the Day Break Lake Tour, will take guests around the Quinault Rain Forest to orient them to the hiking trails and giant trees. It provides guests with a great opportunity to learn about the area upon arrival so that they can get an early start the next morning. As the perfect way to end the day, the Evening Lake Tour runs from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and costs $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12.
*Now through Sept. 14, Lake Quinault Lodge is offering guests a call-in special for the new tours: buy one lake tour and get the second at half price. Guests must call (866) 297-9367 to take advantage of this deal.
“The new lake tours offer guests a hands-on experience and new perspective of the Quinault Lake and Rain Forest,” said Beth Showalter, director of sales and marketing, ARAMARK Olympic Peninsula. “Our expert forest rangers give interactive tours that provide a deeper understanding of the history and beauty of the surrounding area.”
Lake Quinault Lodge will still operate the existing Rain Forest Tours, which are three-hour private tours allowing guests to experience the beauty of the Quinault Rain Forest up close and personal. Taking visitors into the heart of the forest and on a 30-mile loop penetrating deep into the Olympic National Park, the new year-round tours offer a unique perspective of the regional wildlife and foliage. The fee for this tour is $30 per adult and $20 per child under the age of 12.
