CAROLINA BEACH AND KURE BEACH HOST FAMILY FUN EVENTS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

November 16, 2007, Carolina Beach, N.C. — Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, N.C., will be hosting a series of family-fun, holiday-themed events this season. The annual “Island of Lights Festival” begins with the “Light Up the Lake” ceremony on November 23 and ends with the “New Year’s Eve Countdown Party and Fireworks” on December 31.

 

Following is a schedule of some of the family-fun events planned for this holiday season in Carolina Beach and Kure Beach:

 

On Friday, November 23, the Island of Lights - Light Up The Lake ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. There will be lighted displays along a one-mile path around Carolina Beach Lake that can be enjoyed through December 31.

 

On Friday, November 30, at 7:30 p.m., there will be an Island of Lights Night-Time Christmas Parade. This night-time electric parade will feature floats, bands, clowns, horses, Santa Claus, and much more.

 

On Saturday, December 1, at 6:00 p.m., is the ever-popular Island of Lights Holiday Flotilla. Visitors can enjoy a parade of fishing boats and pleasure crafts, electrically decorated with thousands of lights, which will cruise from Snows Cut to Carolina Beach Boat Basin and back.

 

On Saturday, December 8, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., is the Island of Lights Tour of Homes. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of Carolina and Kure Beach residences decorated for the holidays.

 

On Sunday, December 31, from 9:00 p.m. – until, will be the annual Island of Lights New Year’s Eve Countdown Party/Fireworks. This family-fun event features fireworks, music and a New Year’s Eve countdown with the lowering of a giant lighted beach ball on the beach at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk.
