Rio Grande, Puerto Rico (Nov. 20, 2007) – Rio Mar Beach Resort
& Spa, a Wyndham Grand Resort, invites guests to escape the hustle and
bustle of the holidays and celebrate the season in an authentic Caribbean
paradise. Whether attempting to avoid that not-so-anticipated cooking anxiety
and post-celebration cleanup, or searching for a new cultural experience and
warmer temperatures, Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa provides the perfect place
for visitors to sneak away yet still experience the magic of the holidays.
Holiday rates start at $429 per night from November 2 – December
21 and $689 per night from December 22 – December 31. These rates are based on a
single room at double occupancy and are subject to availability.
Upon
arrival to the resort, guests are welcomed with a seasonal beverage including
choices like Puerto Rican eggnog, coquito, a refreshing mojito or chocolate milk
for the resort’s youngest guests, before settling in to luxurious accommodations
appropriately ornamented for the holidays.
The resort’s restaurants
offer festive feasts including a Thanksgiving buffet or Turkey To Go on
Thanksgiving Day and a Holiday dinner buffet on Christmas for a no cooking, no
cleanup indulgence. Traditional Roasted Turkey with Cranberry Glaze and
Stuffing, Rosemary Sirloin with Mustard Glaze, Caribbean Pumpkin Soup and Hot
Bread Pudding with Anglaise Sauce are just some of the delectable dishes guests
discover on the buffet. For visitors who enjoy more “spirited” indulgences, Rio
Mar Beach hosts rum tastings each weekend in December in the Lobby Lounge for a
taste of Puerto Rico.
On November 23, guests gather around for the annual
Tree Lighting Ceremony, located in the resort’s lobby. A children’s choir sings
holiday favorites while guests savor drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
Holiday
enthusiasts experience a traditional Puerto Rican Christmas while enjoying the
sounds of groups singing aguinaldos near the Christmas tree over the course of
the season. Aguinaldo, a folk genre of Christmas music, originated in Puerto
Rico and is based on a form of Spanish Christmas carol.
During the
beginning of January, all families with young children receive a Three Kings
gift box at check-in accompanied by a special note explaining the Three Kings
holiday tradition celebrated in Puerto Rico on January 6. The note tells the
story of how the Three Kings delivered the gifts ahead of time for the children
with the condition that they must first provide food for the camels before
opening their gifts.
