Stillwater, MN – The Aurora Staples Inn received a “Best in the Great Lakes Award” in the annual Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards for 2009-2010. The awards are based upon nearly 100,000 qualitative and quantitative independent reviews submitted to BedandBreakfast.com, the leading worldwide, online B&B directory and reservation network. The Aurora Staples Inn was the only Minnesota property named to the list of top ten B&Bs in the Great Lakes area.
According to BedandBreakfast.com, independent reviews are the most important factor when choosing a B&B, with 96% of consumers citing reviews as the most essential element when selecting a property. “The Aurora Staples Inn earned its stellar reviews from customers for its quality accommodations, breakfasts, amenities and wonderful hospitality and service,” said Sandy Soule, spokeswomen for BedandBreakfast.com.
The century-old inn is owned by Cathy and Jerry Helmberger who have operated it since 2002. Originally built by the great lumber baron Isaac Staples for his daughter Aurora, the five bedroom inn is elegantly decorated to reflect the Victorian era. It is located three blocks from Stillwater’s bustling Main Street with a view of the scenic St. Croix River.
“We’re truly honored to be chosen for the Best of BedandBreakfast.com award,” said Cathy Helmberger. “We strive to provide excellent service for our guests and are very pleased that so many of them took the time to review our property. We hope they continue to visit us in Stillwater for many years to come.”
Founded in 1995, Bed and Breakfast.com is highly recommended by The New York Times, Real Simple, Forbes, Travel & Leisure, USA Today and others. For a complete list of winners please visit www.BedandBreakfast.com and click Winners 2009-2010.
About the Aurora Staples Inn
Built by lumber baron Isaac Staples for his favorite daughter Aurora, this lovely home is a testament to his devotion to her. A formal parlor and music room provide a welcome atmosphere for guests for wine and hors d’oeuvres upon arrival. Architectural details include gorgeous wood carvings containing Staples’ signature oak leaf, original stained glass windows and incredible views of the river and Stillwater’s trade marked lift bridge. The St. Croix Suite, which was Aurora’s bedroom until 1924, still contains her original walnut bedroom set – a wedding present from her parents. The Carriage house suite was restored by current owners and has a homey, rustic feel, with antique furnishings, a whirlpool tub, 3-sided fireplace and separate bathroom.
