“All Hands on Deck” as Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Pays Tribute to Our Sea-Going Military Personnel on Monday, April 26 for South Florida’s Largest Fleet Week Party
Thousands of Service Men and Women to Suit Up for Local Meet and Greet
WHAT: It’s “All Hands on Deck” as Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino invites the public to help welcome our sea-going military personnel at a spectacular kick-off party.
More than 1,000 men and women of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Royal Canadian Navy and German Navy will arrive to participate in South Florida’s 20th annual celebration of the maritime services, Fleet Week Port Everglades 2010, presented by Humana Military Healthcare Services. A variety of fun and friendly activities including a dating game at Center Fountain, a “Pride” Navy Band concert, dancers and DJs will add to the festive atmosphere.
Seminole Paradise retailers will also be offering various food and drink specials all evening.
Fleet Week Port Everglades 2010 is put on by Broward Navy Days, Inc., a local non-profit organization assisting with the morale and welfare of the crew members of our nation’s sea-going services: the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines.
Each year, thousands of sailors aboard multiple ships dock in Port Everglades for a week-long series of community service projects, special events and more. This year’s sailors hail from the USS Independence (LCS 2) Littoral Combat Ship from San Diego, California; the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship, the USS Newport News (SSN 750) Fast Attack Submarine and the USS Porter (DDG 78) Guided Missile Destroyer, all from Norfolk, Virginia; the USS Halyburton (FFG 40) Guided Missile Frigate from Mayport, Florida; the HMCS Montreal (FFH 336) Multi-Role Patrol Frigate from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and the FGS Hessen (F 221) Multi-Purpose Frigate from Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
Also participating are military personnel from the Second Marine Division, United States Marine Corps of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, and Naval Beach Group Two from Little Creek, Virginia, including Amphibious Construction Battalion Two, Assault Craft Unit Two and Four and Beachmasters Unit Two.
