BOCA RATON, FLA. - (April 21, 2010) - Boca Raton Resort & Club today unveiled artful new experiences that will enrich Resort stays for guests of all ages. A new partnership with Boca Raton's Elaine Baker Gallery, celebrated for its ever-changing collection of contemporary works by international artists, features an innovative sculpture program with museum-quality works installed throughout the 365-acre Resort. A new, two-night Artcation package, starting from $199, will bring these sculptures to life, plus introduce guests to other area museum collections, exhibitions and performances.
"We are pleased to have formed this creative partnership with the Elaine Baker Gallery. It's a great platform for developing ongoing arts-related activities that engage and delight enthusiasts and collectors of all ages and interests," said Boca Raton Resort & Club President Stephen Ast.
A new on-site Elaine Baker Gallery allows the inventive mother/daughter team of Elaine Baker and Deborah Sponder to easily oversee the diverse array of sculpture program experiences that are part of Boca Resort's new Artcation offer. This includes guided and self-guided walking tours of the sculpture installations, and invitations to lectures by and receptions with visiting artists. Guided sculpture tours are available twice weekly on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings or by appointment.
"Since all featured sculptures are available for purchase, we will be able to continuously showcase new and interesting works of a wide range of contemporary artists, always keeping the experience 'original' and vibrant for those visiting the Resort & Club," noted Deborah Sponder, co-partner of Elaine Baker Gallery with Elaine Baker, her mother, and manager for the on-site Elaine Baker Gallery. "We are delighted to open our location at the Boca Raton Resort & Club to serve as our expansive waterfront gallery."
Now in situ at the Resort are works by such acclaimed artists and sculptors as Lynn Chadwick, Bernar Venet, Boaz Vaadia, Jun Kaneko, Rob Lorenson, Aurora Canero, Peter Busby, Bill Barrett, Dennis Oppenheimer, Ernest Trova, and Carole Feuerman, first prize winner at the 2008 Beijing Biennale. With these amazing sculptures in place, the Resort now houses over $5 million in art.
Sculptures at Boca Resort
As you tour the historic Boca Raton Resort, you will discover a number of classic statues in place since its opening in 1926. As guests enter the Resort, the "Slave Girl of Boca Raton", by Italian sculptor Ettore Pellagatta and bronze fountain, "Flute Player," welcome guests. Since 2008, the Resort's own "Infanta Margarita" by Manolo Valdes has presided over the Palm Court. Now, dramatic new "members" of the Boca Resort Sculpture Program surprise guests in many locations:
At the grand entrance, guests are now greeted by a 9,000-lb. bronze, bluestone boulder sculpture named "The Family" by Boaz Vaadia, whose work is permanently installed at New York's Time Warner Building and in collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Israel's Tel-Aviv Museum
